Jose Lugo
Jose is a powerful storyteller, captivating speaker, and founder of
We Are All One Story. Jose experienced repeated childhood trauma that would influence his decision to join a Los Angeles Crip street gang when he was sixteen and would later be convicted and sentenced to five years in a maximum security prison at the age of eighteen. When he paroled from prison, he vowed to himself that he would never go back and dreamed of one day telling the stories of his peers.
At the age of thirty-one, he would return to jail for a D.U.I.
After his incarceration, he had lost all hope. He took inventory of his life and saw himself only as a criminal with no value. On the brink of taking his own life, he cried out to God and was able to remember a simple truth that he had once believed as a child - that he as a person had inherent value and that his story had meaning. Jose has dedicated his life to sharing his experiences and helping others own their stories to live better life.
